Dementia and Mental Health Awareness workshops in Parish Communities
Over the last two years Ben Bano has facilitated a large number of workshops across England and Wales in the spiritual needs of people with dementia as well as Mental Health Awareness in Parish and Faith Communities. These workshops, usually a half day, provide an opportunity to reflect on how parishes and faith communities can be places of welcome and inclusion. Participants are encouraged to reflect on how they can take forward their learning from these sessions, for example planning events such as coffee mornings for carers or support for those involved in ministry to people whose lives are touched with mental distress. Awareness raising at parish level is a key aim of the 'Welcome Me as I Am' project. If you are interested in hosting a workshop in your parish or faith community contact Ben here.
Comments from a recent workshop: 'Its still Me Lord' on dementia and spirituality for parishes in South London:
'The workshop was a great spiritual experience for me as it increased my awareness of the spiritual needs of people with mental health conditions.'
'Thank you so much for such an interesting and thought provoking session this morning'
